The Trouble With Spells

Portia Mullins has just turned sweet sixteen and has been informed that she is a witch and that her Father and Grandma are also witches or well her Father is a warlock as males are called. Portia is not sure that her Grandma has not fallen off her rocker at first until she starts to use her magic. Her Grandma teaches Portia how to use her magic although she doesn't need much assistance at all. Portia is a very talented witch and can use her powers very well and better than most beginners. Her Grandma is the High Priestess and her Father is the High Priestess of their coven.
Vance Mangum is eighteen years old and has been in love with Portia since the first day he laid eyes on her two years ago on his first day at her school. But when he found out who she was he realized he couldn't talk to her or have anything to do with her until her sixteenth birthday. He couldn't tell her that she was a witch because he had promised her dad that he would not have anything to do with her until then. Portia saw Vance on his first day but he kind of ignored her and she never talked to him because she thought he didn't like her because to him she was just a child and he became known as the bad boy of the school. He wore holey jeans and rode a motorcycle. Everyone judge Vance just like they do a book cover. They didn't try to find out who he was inside or they would have known that they were way off on judging him as to what kind of person he truly was.
But when Portia turned sixteen the promise Vance had made to her father no longer counted. He was now free to talk to her and let her know how he felt about her. As soon as they started spending time they each figured out that they were meant for each other that they were soulmates. They couldn't stand to be away from each other long at a time. Both of them were physically miserable when they were not together.
When Vance was a small child his mother took him and left his father who was a bad warlock. He used dark magic and was teaching Vance all about dark magic until his mother found out. Vance is still hiding from his father and his father has not given up looking for him in all these years. Vance doesn't want anything to do with him. He is afraid that if his father finds him that he will hurt Portia and her family and Vance will not allowed that no matter what it may cost him. He will protect her with his life as she would him.
The Trouble With Spells is the first book in the Of Witches and Warlocks series. I really and truly loved reading it. I thought Portia and Vance being soulmates was very cool and I really, really loved how with them being soulmates it affected them now that is real deep. There were times while reading The Trouble With Spells I found myself chocking up wanting to cry so bad it hurt and I did end up with a few tears rolling down my face. The ending will knock you off your feet and leave you wanting more. I don't know why I have not read The Trouble With Spells before now.
